Steel is foundational to global society. Yet, the industry emits 7- 9% of global CO2 emissions. Ferrum Technologies is fully committed to eradicating this core problem of humanity and making steel production CO2-free.

Its world-class technical team is commercializing a specific melter technology, which has never been tried before yet has the potential to make direct reduction cost-competitive with carbon-based technologies.

We are looking for an expert in EAF or smelter technologies (f/m/d) who is eager to create an impact on mitigating climate change, who comes on board as a true partner and helps to shape our way forward. The role will be focused on driving our technology platform forward, focusing on the metallurgical and engineering side of our melter innovation.

Responsibilities

Research on critical topics (e.g. desulfurization, slag metallurgy etc.) and deriving relevant principles.

Further optimizing the reactor design in close collaboration with our Head of Metallurgy.

Playing a central part in building a pilot-scale system and designing test procedures.

Qualifications

The ideal person is someone (f/m/d) with a technical background and industry experience with EAF or other smelter technologies (either in industry or equipment provider).

Relevant areas include EAFs, submerged arc furnaces, open slag bath furnaces, and others.

Leadership potential and the willingness to take ownership from day 0.
